Description

This vintage guitar has a had a full appraisal by an expert and i have priced it to sell at the lower end of the evaluation in which i have the paperwork to show to serious applicants upon coming and trying the guitar out. There are scratches, dings and dents and the guitar been in better condition cosmetically and spent lots of its life in its case the guitar would of been valued at a bare minimum starting point of £5000

This guitar is a “collectors grade” all original 1976 Gibson es 335 semi hollow guitar made during the Norlin ownership period. The semi hollow body is of maple ply grain and features a double cutaway thin line. There are areas of wear through to the wood, primarily rear to the neck and body, but otherwise play wear is not excessive and is commensurate with an instrument of its age that has been clearly played a lot and has had a busy life. Overall the guitar is in very good condition for its age

The neck features a typical neck profile associated with guitars from this period and is comfortable to play without being exsessivly narrow. The electronics, pickups and hardware are all original, with the exeption of grover tuners which was a common upgrade at the time with the footprints of the original set of tuners visible on the rear of the headstock. The Gibson made ABR – 1 bridge and trapeze tail piece are present and correct and a set of original patent no. pickups that offer all the woody hollowbody tone you could want from a Gibson of this period. The wiring loom seems intact, with readable codes from the pots showing a manufacturers code dating them to 1975 (137  75xx) The pickguard appears original while the control knobs may be newer. This guitar also retains period hardcase.

NECK – original 3 piece maple, refret, changed nut, 4 x vintage grover tuners (non original) original headstock inlay, original binding and no evidence of any repair work.

BODY –  maple ply body with centre block, original finish, body binding is original, pickup and control routes correct, appropriate play wear, patina and laquer checking. No evidence of any repair work

HARDWARE – Tuners – see neck, original adjustable bridge and tailpiece, original pickup rings, original truss rod cover, knobs appear newer, original pickguard.

ELECTRONICS – original to 1975. Dates obscurred by solder (137  75xx) original 3 position switch, original jack input, original patent number humbucker pickups, pickup covers intact, original wiring loom and capacitor
